Artist Statement
'I grew up listening to the click of a camera, smelling the fragrance of blooming flowers, and the echo of my father's environmental advocacy. I absorbed these influences without even realising it. It was a silent education, a legacy that would later flourish within me.’
My father, a man whose love for photography, gardening, and environmentalism left an indelible mark on me.
Flowers and the rhythm of nature captivate me. After years working in business, I became an editorial garden photographer. This connection with the natural world fuelled my commitment to celebrating the environment. I revived a long-lost love—painting. A passion that I reluctantly left behind in my teenage years.
A move from the bustling streets of London to the serene landscapes of the West Country in England in the late 1990s marked a pivotal chapter in my life. Here, amidst the sprawling countryside, I began to live, I painted.
My love for flowers and nature is the driving force behind my paintings. I mostly use acrylics so that I can lay down layers quickly and develop depth, intrigue and richness. My tools are eclectic, sometimes a brush, often a spatula, or stems of grasses and flower heads, you can see seeds buried in the layers of paint. I work quickly and intuitively to paint the essence of a flower or place. I paint what I feel, not what I see.
My personal and artistic evolution is a harmonious blend of familial influence, a rekindled passion for the arts, and an unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. The countryside, with its sprawling vistas and aching beauty, is where I can express my deepest connection to the world around me.

Lynn Keddie’s artistic journey defied conventional paths. Despite a childhood love for painting, Lynn initially navigated the world of magazine publishing in London.
In 2000, a move to Somerset and a bold pivot into editorial, garden photography afforded her the opportunity to rediscover her passion for painting by splitting her time between the two.
