Fifteen years ago I wrote down a list of things I wanted to achieve, goals I suppose.
Not so long ago I found the list trapped between some fairly boring filing, of the 6 or so things I had written down I have done all but one.
The most personal one was to change my life as a magazine publisher; endlessly chasing targets, being crushed by an unreasonable board and to become a successful photographer.
Today, I am a photographer working in a field I love, I am published in lots of lovely magazines and get to meet lots of interesting folk. I wouldn't say life is more simple, it's pretty hard work running your own business, but it is very fulfilling.
Mark Twain wrote this, I've always kept it in case (on tough days) I need reminding:
'Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that
you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.'
So, if you have a dream, don't ignore it. Write it down, work out how to go about reaching it and...
